It has no legal entity of its own: it is fiscally hosted by Open Source Collective, a US 501(c)(6) non-profit that holds the project's funds, signs agreements, issues invoices and publishes every incoming contribution and every expense on a public ledger. Funds pay for what the project consumes (build and test infrastructure, test devices, maintenance tooling, security work); when a maintainer has paid such a cost out of pocket, it is reimbursed against a receipt, and the reimbursement is on the public ledger like every other expense.",
